Meshtastic: LoRA for the Masses

Meshtastic is a network built on open source, low cost devices that allow communications via decentralized, off grid mesh networks. Several NOVARS members are in the process of erecting low power, solar powered repeaters for the Meshtastic Node network on the 900 MHz license-free portion of the band using spread-spectrum technology. These repeaters will support the LongFast channels, and are open and free for anyone to use! We expect coverage for the majority of Findlay. Meshtastic devices can be found online for as low as $20, and use a Bluetooth or WiFi enabled device to send text messages through channels, similar to a IM chatroom.

You do not need any FCC license to operate and use these devices.
